Alberta To Launch Two New Immigration Streams For Startups And Entrepreneurs.

International Business Graduates can now start their own business in Alberta with two new immigration streams.

It is an initiative that will help budding business enthusiasts gain an international perspective. And as a global boon, helps diversify the economy.

  • The International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream is beginning from the 26th of October. All candidates interested to receive an invitation must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) well in advance for review by the AINP. The highest-ranking candidates will receive an invitation to submit a Business Application.
  • Alberta will also launch the Foreign Graduate Start-up Visa Stream in January, 2021. This stream is for international student graduates from top U.S. universities and colleges, who want to start a business and settle in Alberta communities. 

Both will work alongside the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program.

“One of the biggest barriers to growth in Alberta’s digital economy is a shortage of people with relevant skills and experience,” the budget statement said.

On the Startup Visa Stream, the budget said: “The startup visa will offer fast track processing for qualified graduates of top universities if they commit to launch a startup enterprise in Alberta, with a bridge to permanent residency through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program.”
