The Canadian province of Alberta recently held a new draw and issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to over 200 Express Entry candidates.

Invited Candidates

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), in its latest draw, invited 200 candidates under the Express Entry System who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of 200 points.

The minimum CRS score for this draw was one point more than that for the previous two draws.

The immigration candidates had to have registered their profiles with the federal Express Entry System to be invited.

Express Entry

Express Entry is the Canadian government’s management system for immigration applications. It is for the three federal immigration pathways:

-         Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)
-         Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)
-         Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

If a candidate is eligible for Express Entry, they will get a CRS score based on their age, education, experience and various other factors. They will then be placed in a pool of candidates.

The Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) holds regular Express Entry draws, choosing the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent resident status.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is an enhanced PNP for candidates under the federal Express Entry System to receive a provincial nomination.

The eligible candidates must either have strong ties with the province (like family members) or support its economic development goals.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the province is only inviting those candidates who live and work there.
