Around 49,8000 Tier 4 study visas have been granted in 2020 - a 136% increase as that of 2019.
Almost 96% of visas applied for by Indian students had been approved earlier this year.
Indian students form one of the largest groups of international students studying in the UK. They can see a high approval rating from now on.
Oliver Ballhatchet, the British Deputy High Commissioner at Chennai was speaking at a virtual event on Wednesday, 4 November 2020.
He said, “COVID 19 has impacted our lives, the students going to the UK, but international students are still welcome as the UK universities are committed to supporting each other and everyone during these tough times.”
The UK visa regime is fast changing since they are not tied to the European Union anymore. Starting 5 October 2020, the Tier 4 visas were replaced by the new Student visa route as part of the new immigration system to be implemented from 1 January 2021.
Student visa applications post 5 October 2020 will come under the new rules, even though they rely on CAS (Certificate of Acceptance for Studies) under Tier 4 sponsorship system.
