All those travelling outside India are required to carry a hard copy of their visa.
The visa copy of an Indian national travelling to a foreign destination from India will be scanned at the immigration counter at the international airport of their departure. This is as per the latest guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Government of India.
The requirement for a hard copy of a foreign visa for an individual holding an Indian passport has been made mandatory as per the directive of the government.
All Indian passengers departing from any of the international airports in India should compulsorily carry a hard copy of the visa which will have to be produced to the immigration officers at the airport.
The hard copy requirement is applicable to any kind of a foreign visa obtained online, for example - an eVisa, or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
Those with a sticker visa affixed in their passport don’t have to copy a hard copy of the same. The visa can be scanned from their passport itself. Electronic visa holders, on the other hand, must compulsorily keep a hard copy of their visa with them when travelling overseas from India.
