The South Australian government has announced that an additional 70 occupations will be open to the Skilled Occupation List for foreign professionals from September 28.

South Australia nominates the most skilled professionals from around the world for popular visas like Subclass 190 and Subclass 491. 

The state added the new occupations to the list to manage its response to recovery from Covid-19. To get nominated for the skilled visa, the candidate must meet the eligibility criteria of the Department of Home Affairs.

Moreover, the candidate must have over eight years of experience in the occupation, or their occupation must be very relevant to the eligible occupation and must prove their English proficiency.

Nomination Requirements

The requirements for the state nomination vary based on the visa program you are applying for. Skilled professionals looking to apply for the nomination under Subclass 190 or Subclass 491 must:

• Check the State’s Skilled Occupations List to ensure that their occupation is eligible for a nomination and that you meet the requirements for the occupation,
• Check all the requirements linked with the visa you are applying under, i.e Skilled Nominated Visa or Skilled Work Regional Visa,
• Check any supporting documents you may need to submit for your application and 
• Submit the Registration of Interest (RoI).
