Prince Edward Island Holds Second Largest 2021 PNP Draw

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) recently held a scheduled immigrational draw and invited 204 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Eligible Candidates

Out of the 204 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued, 195 were given to candidates under the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories, while only nine went to those under the Business Impact category, who had a provincial score of at least 75 points.

The province has conducted ten draws since the start of 2021, inviting 1,541 candidates.

PEI PNP Express Entry

The PEI PNP Express Entry category is an enhanced form of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in that it is linked with the Express Entry system. To be eligible under this stream, the candidate must have a profile in the federal system.

Express Entry is a system for managing applications under the three skill-based immigration programs - Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) program, Federal Skilled Trades (FST) program and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Express Entry candidates who receive the provincial nomination get an additional 600 points in their CRS score, guaranteeing an ITA for permanent residency in the next federal draw.

Labour Impact Category

This category is for foreign workers who have received a valid employment letter from and support of an employer in the province. 

The stream is further divided into three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate.

Business Impact Category

Candidates under this category have to meet the minimum provincial score requirement to be eligible for an ITA. The minimum score requirement is different in every draw.

The ITAs issued today to candidates from this category were issued under the Work Permit Stream, dedicated to international entrepreneurs who wish to start and operate a business in the province.
