Canada’s Ontario province invites tech professionals in another targeted draw. With the latest round of invitations, a total of 8,589 have been invited in the four HCP draws held in 2024.
On March 21, 2024, Ontario issued 2,281 invitations through the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. HCP is among the three Ontario immigration pathways that are linked with the Express Entry system of the Canadian Government.
Ontario is a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Ontario PNP is officially the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
Candidates who received an invitation in the latest Ontario PNP draw -
15 tech occupations are being targeted by Ontario PNP. To be eligible, an Express Entry candidate must have work experience in any of the targeted occupations as per the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
For being considered, the tech work experience must be in an NOC which is listed as the primary NOC on the Express Entry profile.

You can only apply under OINP HCP if you are issued a notification of interest by the Ontario Government.
Ontario has invited 25,852 so far in 2024. Both invitations to apply (ITAs) and notifications of interest (NOIs) are issued by the OINP. While NOIs are for Express Entry linked Ontario PNP streams, ITAs are issued under other streams.

A provincial nomination is worth CRS 600 points in itself. A nomination under Canadian PNP guarantees an invitation to apply for an Express Entry candidate.
Ontario PNP released “2023 OINP Results” on March 15, 2023. A total of 16,506 nominations were issued by the OINP in 2023.
Invitations are different from nominations. An invitation is when you are asked to submit an application. On the other hand, a nomination is when you have been accepted as a nominee and issued a Nomination Certificate.
Of the total 16,506 nominations issued in 2023 by Ontario, 52% - that is 8,603 - were for candidates with India as their country of birth.

Canada PR by PNP is a two-step process. Initially, a nomination must be secured by any of the provinces and territories part of the PNP. After a PNP nomination, Canadian permanent residency can be applied with the Nomination Certificate.
