IRCC Issues Another 4,000 Invitations under Express Entry

Published on : February 6, 2025

Targeted draw for Canadian Experience Class.

On February 5, 2025, the Canadian Government issued another 4,000 invitations under the Express Entry system. In a targeted draw, invitations to apply (ITAs) were sent out to those eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with a ranking score of CRS 521 or more.

This is the second draw of the week. Previously, a PNP-only draw was held on February 4, 2025. Altogether, 5 Express Entry draws have been held so far in 2025.

To be considered for the latest Express Entry draw, a candidate had to -

  • Be eligible for the CEC,
  • With a ranking score of CRS 521 or above, and
  • Created their profile before November 14, 2025 at 02:52:14 UTC.

Express Entry draws typically have a tie-break rule applied which prioritizes profiles created earlier over those registered at a later point in time. The tie-break is only applicable to those with the lowest CRS for that EE draw. According to IRCC, if more than 1 candidate has the lowest CRS score, their cut-off will be per the date and time of profile submission.

In line with the trend seen in the later half of 2024, Express Entry draws so far this year have also focused on specific pathways and categories. While CEC, FTSP, and FSWP come under the newly-created category referred to as In-Canada Focus, category-based selection now comes under the Federal Economic Priorities category. There is a separate allocation for those applying under the Provincial Nominee Program, also known as Canadian PNP.

Considered together, In-Canada Focus, Federal Economic Priorities, and PNP have an annual allocation of 1,79,680 Canada PR visa spaces for 2025. Of these -

  • 82,980 for In-Canada Focus (CEC, FSTP, FSWP, etc.)
  • 41,700 for Federal Economic Priorities (category-based selection from 6 categories), and
  • 55,000 for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The most suitable Canada PR pathway for you will be based on your profile, following an in-depth assessment of the pathway with highest probability of visa grant. The right guidance helps you plan better and apply with confidence.
