IRCC holds 3rd Round of Invitations to Apply for Trade Occupations in Express Entry Draw

Published on : August 4, 2023

The stream of good news keeps on as the IRCC has revealed another round of invitations under Express Entry for trade occupations. Since the Canadian Immigration Department has launched category-based selection, this is the first time trades professionals have received invitations.

In yesterday's draw, 1,500 candidates received the invitations to apply with the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 388, comparatively lower than before. Carpentry, plumbing, welding, and other trade professions are included in the list.

However, candidates should meet additional requirements criteria for the Canada PR visa permit. Eligibilities for trade occupations have several specifications to receive the invitations to apply.

What are Trade Occupations in Express Entry?

In July, the Canadian immigration department launched a Category-based selection process for the Express Entry draw. The country desperately needs small & medium - scale industry laborers, including plumbers, technicians, mechanics, carpenters, welders, etc. Occupational demand is rising in the post-covid situation in Canada.

The decision came to light after considering the rising demand for trade occupations professionals in the labor market. Eligible candidates across the world can apply for a visa permit and land in Canada to show their skills and expertise in their respective fields.

The Eligibility Criteria for Trades Professionals - A Quick Overview

1,500 candidates received the invitations to apply whose eligibility met the requirements measures. IRCC specified the eligibility criteria for plumbers, technicians, welders, carpenters, and other trades professionals. Let's have a quick check of the details of the requirements here:

Education: There are no specific educational qualifications. However, if you want to increase your score in the Express Entry pool, you can produce diplomas and degree certificates in the relevant field, adding extra points to your profile.

Work Experience: The essential requirement measure is your working experience in relevant trades. Candidates must have 2 years of full-time experience in skilled trade within the 5 years tenure before applying. Your work experience must be paid work as volunteer work or unpaid internships will not count in trade occupations express entry.

Language Proficiency: Communication matters in every job sector; trade occupation is no exception. As per the Canadian Language Benchmark, a candidate should have a minimum score of 5 in speaking and listening and a score of 4 in reading and writing.

Candidates should enroll for an approved language test and add the score to the Express Entry profile.

Proof of Funds: Another critical measure is funds. You must have enough funds in your bank accounts to support your and your family's expenses in Canada. The immigration department issued the fund amount required to stay in Canada based on family members. Here is the list:

Number of Family Members

Funds Required in CAD

                       1

             $13,757

                       2

             $17,127

                       3

             $21,055

                       4

             $25,564

                       5

             $28,994

                       6

             $32,700

                       7

               $36,407

More than 7 members ( each member need)

               $3,706

After getting the permanent residence visa approval, you must provide evidence that you can legally access the monetary transaction when you reach Canada.

In trade occupations, during the visa grant, candidates must produce the job offer letter from the Canadian employer along with other documents for further verifications.

As this is the first-ever trade occupations professionals received the invitations to apply, Canada primarily considers the working experience, language ability, and funds availability in the candidate's Express entry profile.

If everything aligns with their requirements, a deserving candidate can get the visa approval within the allotted time frame.

Canada is determined to fill the gap in several small and medium-scale industries' labor deficits. Trade occupations in Express entry would serve the true purpose after allowing foreign nationals from similar backgrounds to take advantage, receive the PR visa permit, and start their career afresh in Canada.

If you are from a trade industry and have sound experiences in your relevant field, you can create your profile for the Express Entry draw. It would be best if you allow professionals to draft your profile under the supervision of experts in the visa and immigration industry.
