Applications can now be submitted for International Experience Canada 2024. Nationals of specific countries can apply under the IEC to travel to and work in Canada for up to 2 years.
On December 11, 2023, the Canadian Immigration Minister announced that the 2024 season of the International Experience Canada (IEC) program was open for applications. Almost 90,000 young people from IEC partner countries can apply. Those interested can submit their application starting December 11, 2023.
Canada continues to benefit from the interest shown by young people from all over the world who want to come to Canada to gain valuable Canadian experience.
To be eligible to apply, your country of citizenship must have a Youth Mobility Agreement (YMA) with Canada.
Some countries allow only a single participation by their citizens. Others let their citizens take part twice but under different categories.
There are three different pathways under IEC -
According to Minister Miller, “Canada benefits when young people around the world participate in International Experience Canada”.
Under the International Experience Canada, international youth and Canadians - between 18 to 35 years of age - get the opportunity for working and travelling in each other’s country.
Canada has youth mobility partnerships with 35+ countries and territories. In 2023, Canada signed new deals with Ukraine, Finland, and Iceland. The existing deals with the United Kingdom and South Korea were also improved.
The IEC has a standard processing time of 4 weeks.
