This is the second round of invitations to be held within 2 days. The previous EE draw took place on May 30, 2024.
Express Entry Draw Number 297 was held on May 31, 2024. Express Entry is the main route to Canadian permanent residence. With a standard processing time of within 6 months, Express Entry remains the most sought-after immigration program to move to Canada with family.
In the latest round of invitations, a total of 3,000 ITAs were issued to Express Entry candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program. The minimum score requirement was that of CRS 522.
EE draw number 297 was a program-specific draw unlike Express Entry category-based selection. The last CEC-only draw was held on September 14, 2021. The draw is also the first program-specific draw to be held since category-based selection was introduced in May 2023.
Unlike an all-program draw, a program-specific draw is when only 1 out of the 3 Express Entry draws is selected for invitations to be sent out. The Express Entry system is used for accepting, prioritizing and managing Canada PR visa applications under 3 programs -
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) also has certain immigration pathways linked with Express Entry of Canada.
A majority of CEC and PNP candidates are based in Canada. Such Canadian immigration hopefuls are already living and working in Canada as temporary residents. CEC and PNP-only draws reflect the recent commitment of Canada to focus more on “domestic draws”.
The transition of temporary residents to permanent residency is a part of the commitment made by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). People moving to PR from TR are already in Canada and are well aware of the Canadian labour market. Their suitable placement makes them more likely to successfully settle in the country.
