Express Entry: 3,300 ITAs Issued by IRCC to CEC Candidates

Published on : August 28, 2024

The latest Express Entry is the second draw to be held in two days.

On August 27, 2024, the Canadian government held another invitation round under the Express Entry system. Express Entry is an online application management system managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The latest draw is EE Draw number 312 since the launch of Express Entry in 2015.

In the latest Express Entry draw, 3,300 skilled workers were invited to submit their Canadian permanent residence application. 60 days are allotted from the date of the ITA. You can submit your application for Canada PR by Express Entry only after you receive an invitation to apply from IRCC.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates were targeted in the program-specific Express Entry draw. To be considered by the IRCC, a CEC candidate was required to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 507.

The previous Express Entry draw was held a day ago, and 1,121 people were invited through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The last round of multiple Express Entry rounds was on August 13-15 where three draws were held in three days.

The Canadian government will grant 485,000 PR visas in 2024, with 110,770 through Express Entry. IRCC announced the permanent resident admissions target for 2024-26 on November 1, 2023. The program-wise admissions target is given in the 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan.

With the latest invitations, 78,963 ITAs have been issued so far in 2024 in the 34 Express Entry draws held.

What is Canadian Express Entry?

Express Entry is a system for managing online applications. IRCC uses it for processing permanent residency applications from skilled workers under three programs -

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program
  3. Canadian Experience Class

You will need 67 points to make your Express Entry profile on the IRCC portal. Once you enter the pool of candidates, your profile is assessed and a CRS score out of 1,200 is allotted.

The factors considered for your CRS score include -

  • Age
  • Education
  • Occupation
  • Work experience
  • PNP nomination
  • Job offer in Canada
  • Adaptability (sibling in Canada etc.)

The points secured on each of the factors is then added together to get an overall CRS score. Those with the highest CRS score have the highest probability of receiving an ITA in an upcoming Express Entry draw.

As on August 27, 2024, there were 205,137 Express Entry profiles in the pool. Of these, 71,024 had CRS 450+ as their ranking score -

  • CRS 601 to 1200: profiles 127
  • CRS 501 to 600: profiles 9,764
  • CRS 451 to 500: profiles 61,133

There are many ways to improve your CRS score. A PNP nomination will get you CRS 600, and a job offer in Canada can be worth a maximum of CRS 200 points. A good IELTS score will also make your CRS better.

Express Entry rounds can be -

At the time of an Express Entry draw, your rank in the pool is much more important than your CRS points. It is only the top-ranking candidates who meet the specific draw criteria that are invited. Your rank in the EE pool will change with every round of invitations as it depends upon the remaining profiles.
