Canadian Employers Seek to Fill 1,001,100 Vacancies

Latest report reveals overall job vacancies reaching an all-time high across Canada. Employers in Canada are actively seeking to fill around 1 million job positions.

 As per a report by Statistics Canada - “Payroll employment, earnings and hours, and job vacancies, April 2022” - overall job vacancies in Canada continue to increase. The report was released on June 24, 2022. Providing high-quality statistical information that matters, StatCan conducts a Census every five years, along with around 350 active surveys on the different aspects of life in Canada.

As per the latest Statistics Canada report, across all sectors, employers in Canada were “actively seeking” to fill around 1,001,100 vacant job positions at the beginning of April 2022. Job vacancies in Canada are up by -

• 23,300 (2.4%) when compared to March 2022, and
• 308,000 (44.4%) when compared to April 2021.

The numbers have not been seasonally adjusted. Job vacancies in Canada typically tend to increase in the spring and summer, in large part due to seasonal patterns.
