Canada's New Express Entry Draw 2022 Invites 4,250 Candidates

Canada held the latest All-Program Express Entry draw on 12 October, 2022. IRCC is now open to welcoming 4,250 candidates. This is the eighth draw since 6 July. Candidates must score at least 500 in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

How does Express Entry work?

Express Entry is an online immigration system that processes applications under three programs:

• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The program is for skilled workers with a minimum of 3 years of Canadian work experience.

• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

FSWP is for skilled workers with foreign work experience. Education, language abilities, and other documents are mandatory.

• Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

The program is for workers specialized in a skilled trade. A valid job offer or a certificate of qualification is mandatory.

Express Entry All-Program draws were recently resumed. IRCC paused the draws for over 18 months from December 2020. In the past, candidates from the CEC or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were eligible to apply. Draws were on pause due to the backlog of applicants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, in 2021, the Government of Canada also paused the draws for CEC.

How to apply for Canada Express Entry?

Follow the right process to apply for Canada Express Entry. Below are the steps you must follow for any program.

• Check your eligibility for the program
• Keep the required documents handy
• Create and submit your Express Entry Profile
• Receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA)

(only candidates with high CRS scores will receive the invitation)

• After ITA, apply for Canada PR within 60 days
• If selected, submit the other required documents.

IRCC enables applications of physicians

There are many physicians as temporary residents in Canada. Before, physicians were not eligible to apply for Express Entry. IRCC removed such barriers now.

Why were physicians ineligible for Express Entry? Generally, Canada’s medical follows a “fee for service” model. It is a self-employment service. In contrast, candidates with Canadian work experience are not eligible for Express Entry. 

Candidates with at least one year of experience abroad or as an employee in Canada may still apply for an Express Entry Program.

Amendments Expected in Express Entry

The first amendment in Express Entry is, allowing applications of physicians. IRCC received Bill C-19 to determine the high eligibility of the candidates. Candidates must match the eligibility criteria - work experience, education, and language skill. This amendment is different from the current system that issues ITAs based on CRS scores.

Canada to Announce the New Immigration Levels Plan in November

Canada will soon release the New Immigration Levels Plan 2022, as it does each year. This year, IRCC will release the plan on 1 November 2022. It will come with projects for years 2023, 2024, and 2025. The target is to allow 432,000 new permanent residents per the new plan. In 2022, the target spikes up to 55,900 PR via Express Entry.

Ontario and British Invites Candidates Under Canada PNP

Candidates planning to apply for Canada Permanent Residency can raise their hopes. Ontario and British Columbia announced the invitations to apply to Canada PR. In 2022, 55,900 people will get Canada PR. Additionally, there will be 83,500 visa spaces for provincial nominees.
