Canada is inviting 924 PNP Express Entry applicants

Published on : March 17, 2022

Canada currently has conducted 6 PNP draws in 2022.

Canada has invited 924 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on March 16.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited only Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) candidates to a new round of invitations. To be invited, candidates must have a Comprehensive Assessment System (CRS) of at least 754. The minimum score is relatively high because PNP candidates automatically add 600 points to their score when receiving a nomination. Without a nomination, the candidates with the lowest score have 154 standard points.

Invited applicants now have 60 days to apply for permanent residence in Canada. In the previous round of calls, IRCC invited a total of 1,047 PNP candidates to apply to immigrate to Canada.

When will CEC and FSWP invitations resume?

Canada has not held a quick draw for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) applicants since December 2020 and since September 2021 for CEC-Canadian Experience Class applicants. These candidates will recover in the short term.

No date has been made public. Express Entry candidates to Canada, who do not have a provincial nomination, fear that without the opportunity to apply, they will be forced to apply for a new work permit, leave their jobs or even leave the country.

Express Entry candidates who have entered the pool from outside Canada could be faced with expiring language test results, meaning they would have to take another language test to maintain their eligibility.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an immigration system used by Immigration and Nationality Canada (IRCC) on January 1, 2015, managing skilled workers to help with government funding. These include the federal government workforce, the federal office of Canada Economic Development, and part of the state program.

It has three Canadian immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Express Entry uses a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to evaluate candidate profiles. PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool have qualified for one of these programs. Applicants with the highest score will receive an invitation to apply (ITA) and can apply for permanent residence immediately.

If the application is accepted, IRCC issues a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). Approved permanent residents can then complete the disembarkation procedure. If they are outside Canada, they can contact pre-arrival services to help them with their first steps in settling in Canada.
