On Tuesday, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 266 immigration candidates under the Express Entry System in a PNP-only draw.

Invited Candidates

To receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence, a candidate must have a CRS score above the minimum cut-off of 750 points.

While this score can seem too high, it is so because these candidates had previously received a provincial nomination through a Provincial Nomination Program (PNP).

Nominated candidates automatically get an additional 600 points to their CRS score. Therefore, candidates who score 753 points only had to have 153 points before nomination.

If multiple candidates had 753 points, IRCC invited them only if they had registered their profile in the Express Entry System before 1st March 2021 at 3:22 PM.

Express Entry Draws in 2021

2021 has been a record-breaking year for Canadian immigration as the IRCC issued ITAs to a massive 49,390 candidates under the Express Entry System.

This is almost double the number of candidates it had invited last year.

A large part of this enormous total is because of the February 13 draw, which invited 27,332 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.
