Canada immigration services to resume after COVID 19 lockdown

Published on : October 29, 2020

The IRCC announced that it would reopen its services in phases and on the testing basis. To prioritize the safety of the staff, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) halted its operation for immigration and citizenship test.

Currently, only a limited service will be allowed to assess the procedure for the safety of the staff working for the Canadian immigration department. The temporary halt caused problems to many potential permanent residents who applied under various visa categories.

Efforts to fast track the process
The spokesperson for the Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino, Mr. Mathieu Genest, informed that the department is adjusting its process to fast track the visa processing, and equal importance is given to the security of the staff. In the list of importance, the IRCC focuses on the application from its own country and the PR visa holder returning to Canada, besides the people offering essential services.

Canada recently has announced the draw for applicants in the Express Entry pool under a permanent residence visa. To qualify for a PR visa, you need to score at least 67points under the Federal skilled worker visa program. Know more about the step by step process of Canada.
