The latest EE draw is a surprise draw that was not expected as per the regular fortnightly draw schedule. The previous IRCC round of invitations was held on March 15, 2023.

The term “Express Entry draws” is used to refer to the rounds of invitations held by the federal government of Canada through the department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Who got an invitation to apply in the latest Express Entry draw?

Those who received ITAs in Express Entry Draw #244 were those who -

  • Were eligible for any 1 program of the Express Entry system,
  • Had a minimum score of CRS 484, and
  • Had created their profile before May 19,2022 06:48:41 UTC (tiebreak).

A tie-breaking rule is applied by IRCC to prioritize profiles created at an earlier date over those entered into the IRCC pool later.

If more than 1 person has the required minimum CRS score, the cut-off will be as per the date and time of their Express Entry profile submission online.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an application management system. It is used by IRCC to accept, sort through, and prioritize Canada PR visa applications.

What programs come under Express Entry?

An Express Entry profile makes you eligible to apply for a Canada PR visa under any of the 3 Express Entry programs. These are -

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program,
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program, and
  • Canadian Experience Class.

Additionally, some immigration pathways under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are linked with Express Entry. A nomination under any of the Express Entry linked PNP routes is referred to as an “enhanced nomination” and is worth CRS 600 points in itself.

Is Express Entry the only way to immigrate to Canada?

No. Express Entry is the most popular route. However, there are many ways to immigrate to Canada. For example, you can get a Canada PR visa as an investor under the Start Up Visa program.

A nomination by any of the 11 participating communities from 5 Canadian provinces can let you settle in Canada under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP).

PNP has 80+ immigration pathways available. Each of the Canadian PNP routes specifically targets a particular class of immigrants -

  • Skilled workers,
  • Semi-skilled workers,
  • Students, or
  • businesspeople

Selecting the right Canada PR program for yourself is important to maximize your chances of visa success. The right guidance can help you save your time and money while planning to move to Canada permanently.
