On Thursday, the Canadian government invited 4,500 immigration candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) to apply for a provincial nomination in the latest Express Entry draw.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to eligible immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool who have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 369 points.
This cut-off CRS is higher than the previous CEC-only draw, which had a cut-off of 357 points. It is also the smallest CEC-only draw conducted by the IRCC since May 20.
As per government regulation, the mandatory tie-break rule applied to those candidates who had submitted their profiles in the federal Express Entry system before June 10, 2021, at 22:46:37 UTC.
The IRCC has invited a whopping total of 93,842 immigration candidates from CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) until now in 2021. This is twice the number of candidates invited in Express Entry draws in 2020.
The government of Canada has set a goal of 108,500 candidates through the Express Entry system in 2021. Since the start of this year, IRCC has been holding CEC and PNP draws alternatively.
Due to this, the CRS score requirements are witnessing a lot of fluctuations. PNP draws have higher score requirements as the candidates have already been nominated by a province and have received 600 additional points.
The IRCC focuses solely on CEC and PNP candidates because, during this pandemic, it is easier to invite immigrants who are in the country than those outsides, as there are travel restrictions in place.
