Canada Express Entry: 2,000 Invited, FSWP Included

Canada holds the largest Express Entry draw in 11 months. FSWP, FSTP, CEC, and some PNP candidates were eligible. 

On August 3, 2022, Canada held another round of invitations under the Express Entry system. Express Entry draws are held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on behalf of the federal government of Canada. The last Express Entry draw was on July 20, 2022. 

Those invited now have 60 days to submit their complete application for acquiring Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry. 

A total of 16 Express Entry draws have been held so far in 2022, with 16,000+ ITAs issued. 

The ranking of an Express Entry candidate in the IRCC pool is one of the main factors that decides who gets an Invitation to Apply (ITA). A candidate’s Express Entry ranking is as per their score on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest-ranking profiles get invited. The minimum required CRS cut-off changes from draw to draw.

A tie-breaking rule of January 6, 2022 at 14:29:50 UTC was applied to Express Entry Draw #228. Applicable only to profiles that have the minimum cut-off, the tie-breaking rule prioritizes candidates that have created their profile earlier over those that entered the Express Entry pool at a later date. 

In view of the tie-breaking rule applied, those who received ITAs in the latest Express Entry draw were those - 

• Eligible for either FSWP, FSTP, CEC, or some PNP streams; 
• With CRS 533 and above as their ranking score; and
• Entered their profile in the IRCC pool before January 9, 2022 at 14:29:50 UTC. 

431,645 Canada PR visas will be granted in 2022. The annual admissions by Express Entry target for 2022 is that of 55,900.

An individual that decides to live in Canada permanently, a Canada PR is the citizen of another country. 

A Canada PR visa holder can apply for Canadian citizenship after having lived in the country for 1,095 days (that is, three years, based on 365*3) within the five years from the grant of their PR status.
