Canada Express Entry: 1,800 Invited from Trade Occupations

The latest EE draw was a category-based selection by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Canada held another invitation round under the Express Entry system. On July 4, 2024, another 1,800 were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence The latest round was the 300th Express Entry draw. It was a category-based selection that invited those in trade occupations. The minimum score cut-off was that of CRS 436.

This is the first Express Entry draw in 2024 for trade occupations. Previously, candidates with trade occupations received invitations on December 19, 2023.

A tie-breaking rule of July 16, 2023 at 15:44:59 UTC was applied. The tie-break rule is applicable only to candidates with the minimum CRS score. Profiles created earlier are given priority over those created at a later date. The cut-off will be as per the date and time they created their Express Entry profile. For example, in the present EE draw, profiles who received invitations were those -

  • Eligible for an Express Entry program,
  • With a trade occupation,
  • With a minimum score of CRS 436, and
  • Who had created their profile before the tie-break.

What is Express Entry category-based selection?

The Canadian government has shortlisted certain specific categories of immigrants. These are being specifically targeted under category-based selection.

There are 6 categories selected for 2024 -

  1. Trade occupations
  2. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
  3. French-language proficiency
  4. Agriculture and agri-food occupations
  5. Transport occupations
  6. Healthcare occupations
