British Columbia sends 67 invitations to immigration candidates under the Tech pilot draw

ITAs (Invitations to Apply) issued to foreign Tech workers and international students for a provincial nomination through the BC PNP

On September 8, British Columbia sent 67 invitations to Express Entry Canada and Skills Immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its Tech Pilot program.

The Tech Pilot of the BC PNP is a Fastrack immigration pathway which is perfect for the skilled workers and international students whose professions are in demand in the province.

Candidates invited under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) needed to have a job offer with at least one-year duration and should have a profession in one of the 29 in-demand occupations of the pilot program.

The latest draw invited candidates in the categories of skilled workers and international graduates under the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams.

The minimum score for the candidates to be selected was 80.

The candidates who have profiles in Express Entry will be given an additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) if they get a provincial nomination. These points can be used to get an invitation for permanent residency.

The other candidates who are invited under the skills immigration categories will have their applications processed by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), once British Columbia issues them a provincial nomination.

To apply in both the streams, Skills, Immigration and Express Entry, the candidates need to submit a profile through the British Columbia online portal and get themselves registered under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The candidates were given scores based on their work experience, educational qualification, English or French proficiency, employment location.

Key factors of the pilot program 

BC PNP was aimed at the technology workers, and it started in May 2017. There are some big multinational companies in the tech world located in the province, and thus the province has a thriving technology industry.

The aim of the tech pilot is to empower companies to hire skilled workers from all across the world. Along with this, the Pilot program also promotes access to the skills and talents of the people who are already existing in the province.

The Pilot program ensures that skilled workers from many countries are contributing to the growth of the Technology Sector in the province, thus creating a number of opportunities for the British Columbians.

The Tech pilot job should be:

1. In one of the 29 targeted occupations
2. At least 120 days while applying
3. At least one-year duration
    

Eligible Tech pilot occupations also include:

· Telecommunication carriers’ managers

· Civil engineers

· Database analysts and data administrators

· Translators, terminologists, and interpreters

· Graphic designers and illustrators

· Information systems testing technicians

· Audio and video recording technicians

· Chemical engineers
 

British Columbia province invites high scoring Technology sector registrants every week.

According to the website of the BC PNP, the processing time for applications is two to three months from the time they received the invitation. In the case of the tech applications, mostly processing time is shorter.
