Australia’s MATES Program to Open Soon - 3,000 Visas for Indian Nationals

The Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES) all set for launch in late 2024.

Australia’s new migration scheme targeted at young Indian graduates. The MATES (Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme) will begin accepting visa applications in late 2024.

3,000 early career professionals from India will get an opportunity to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years.

Australia and India will strengthen their ties through the launch of the MATES visa pathway for Indian nationals. The MATES program will open the door of opportunities for Indian students looking to work in Australia.

In the near future, Indian university graduates and early career professionals from the leading Indian universities can apply for a visa through MATES. The applications will be submitted through the Temporary Work (International Relations) subclass 403 visa.

MATES has many benefits to offer. Australian businesses and companies will get access to skilled talent sourced from India. On the other hand, Indian graduates will acquire valuable Australian work experience.

A total of 3,000 temporary visa spaces will be made available in a program year. The allocation will be done after an initial registration for a ballot process.

MATES will allow Indian nationals to work overseas in Australia. They will get the opportunity to gain valuable experience in their specific area of expertise.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Information and communication technology (ICT)
  • Engineering
  • Renewable energy
  • Mining
  • Financial technology (FinTech)
  • Agricultural technology (AgriTech)

What is the eligibility for Australia MATES visa pathway?

To be eligible for a MATES visa, you must -

  • Be 30 years or less at the time of application submission
  • Have graduated within the last 2 years from an eligible educational institution
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or above in any of eligible 7 sectors
  • Not have previously applied for MATES
  • Have English proficiency with an overall IELTS band score of 6

MATES will open up a new Australia visa pathway for young Indian professionals with the qualifications needed in specific Australian industries.
