German citizens who plan to travel to India will be able to do so very soon as both countries have agreed to resume additional flights between them starting from January 19 this year.

Resumption of Flights

The decision regarding the resumption of the same was announced by India’s official airline Air India. This comes as a part of the air bubble agreement between both countries.

The Indian flag carrier announced the decision with a post on Twitter, saying, “FlyAI: Air India will operate additional flights from Frankfurt to Bengaluru on every Friday from January 19 to March 25, 2022. Booking open through AI Website, Booking Offices, Call Centre & Authorised Travel Agents.”

Air Bubble Agreement

The Indian government had previously announced that it had reached an air bubble agreement with its German counterpart to restart commercial flights temporarily as long as the regular international flights are suspended due to the pandemic.

Apart from Germany, the country has made such air bubble agreements with 35 other countries. An air bubble agreement between two countries is reached when they aim to restart the commercial passenger flights in the event that regular flights have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
